"Teachers who love teaching teach children to love learning."
Hello! My name is Kelsey Furey and I am so excited to be a part of the Curry Third Grade Team this year! Most importantly, I am thrilled to work with your children! This is my sixth year teaching. Previously, I taught third grade for three years and fourth grade for two years. I am expecting a fun year filled with lots of learning and new adventures and I'm excited to see what it has in store for us. I can’t wait to get to know all of you, but first I am going to tell you a few things about me.
I was born in Washington State and raised here in Arizona. I am the youngest of three children. I have 1 niece and 2 nephews. At home, I have two Labrador Retrievers that love to play and swim. When I graduated from Desert Vista High School I attended Northern Arizona University. Go Lumberjacks! I majored in Elementary Education with a certification in Early Childhood Education and an endorsement in Structured English Immersion.
I chose teaching as a career because I love working with children and I have a passion for education. I wanted a career that allowed me to make a difference, do great things and have a big impact on the world. I have fond memories of my own elementary school and experiences that helped contribute to my enthusiasm for learning. In my spare time I enjoy reading, swimming and watching football. Go Cardinals!
As an educator, I am very excited about putting my education and skills to use and becoming an active participant in your child’s education. I believe that all students have their own unique gifts and talents and I have some ideas that I hope to bring into the classroom as well. It is my anticipation that the students will benefit from their experience in my classroom as much as I will. While this is only a brief introduction, I hope that each of you will feel comfortable with my role in your child’s classroom. If you have questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, I am looking forward to working with you to provide an exciting year for your students!
Sincerely,
Miss Kelsey Furey
